India has been dominant after the all-rounders put up a spectacular display with the bat, and their momentum hasn't moved with the ball. But one of Bangladesh players' acts has sparked a lot of speculation lately. During Day 2 of the competition, veteran star Shakib Al Hasan sparked a buzz after he was seen biting the helmet strap when he was playing. Curiosity sparked among the fans as to why he was biting while facing the bowler.

Shakib Al Hasan sparked a debate after cameras showed him that he was biting on his helmet strap during the 2nd Day of the Test Match in Chennai. Upon closer inspection, it was observed that it wasn't his helmet strap but a black string which was attached to the side of his helmet. Fans took it to social media as they were rather puzzled over the unusual scenario during the match as they debated on whether it was a tactic or just a usual practice.

Why Was Shakib Al Hasan Biting the Thread During Play? Dinesh Karthik Reveals

During the live broadcast of the game, India veteran Dinesh Karthik revealed the mystery behind Shakib's practice on commentary. He was told by Tamim Iqbal that Shakib uses it as a self-assessment technique to make sure that his head stays up off his leg while taking stance and shots. Shakib's helmet is fastened with a string that gives him a warning if his head tilts too much. It helps him keep better control of himself while at the crease. Since Tamin and Al Hasan shared a locker room in the past, he was aware of the rituals or practices that the players usually follow.
