Rohit Sharma started the batting with Shubman Gill, but the Indian captain did not last long on the pitch and only managed to make 11 runs in 22 balls against Pakistan in the Asia Cup opener. Shaheen Afridi took the wicket of Rohit Sharma.
Virat Kohli replaced Rohit after the wicket, but the former captain also did not last long on the pitch. When Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled Virat Kohli out with a decent-length delivery that took an inside edge and rattled the stumps, India suffered a major loss. Rohit Sharma had scored 11 (22), 4 (7), 28 (16), and 12 (18) against Pakistan in his previous four games across all formats.
