Team India floored the South Africans late on Day 2 by sending back their openers to the pavilion. After posting a monumental first innings score of 497-9d, the visitors were left to negotiate five overs on second day before rains called brought about an early end to proceedings. Indian opener Rohit Sharma starred with the bat as he registered his highest Test score. His epic 212 from 255 balls was his first Test double-hundred, sixth century of his career and his third of the series. The Proteas resumed Day 3 at 9-2 with overnight batsmen Zubayr Hamza and Faf du Plessis still at the crease.
