India vs South Africa 3rd Test went underway this morning in Ranchi. Captain Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first. Team India leads the series 2-0.

India's batsmen did t have best of starts this morning against visiting South Africans in final Test of 3-match series in Ranchi. After losing Agarwal, Pujara and Kohli in quick succession, hosts were reduced to 39-3 at one st. Riding on a brilliant opening spell from Raba, Proteas enjoyed an excellent opening session on field. After Kohli’s dismissal, Ajinkya Rahane joined opener Rohit Sharma for a rescue mission. two batsmen negotiated remaining overs till lunch to see India through 71-3 after 23 overs.

Key moments from Day 1 afteron session

1.       Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane’s partnership

two batsmen resumed Indian innings at 71-3 after lunch with counter-attacking batting throughout session. When India reached 189, Sharma and Rahane brought up ir 150-run partnership in just 188 deliveries. With 134 runs in 29 overs, duo me sure that Team India did t lose any furr wickets till tea.

2.       Rohit Sharma’s third century of series

right-handed batsman tched up his sixth Test ton and third of series to le charge for India’s recovery. Sharma smashed 13 boundaries and four sixes on his way to an unbeaten 108 as Team India ended session at 205-3 in 52 overs.

3.       Rahane’s half-century

Ajinkya Rahane brought up his 21st Test half-century during his partnership with Indian opener. At start of Tea break, Rahane was unbeaten at 74 with 10 fours and one six. His innings came at a crucial juncture for Indian batting as hosts were struggling at 39-3 after Kohli’s dismissal in morning session.
