third Test between India and South Africa went underway this morning with India captain Virat Kohli winning toss and opting to bat first. After emphatic victories in Vishakhapatnam and Pune, Team India regained Freedom Trophy which y lost in South Africa last year. However, final match in Ranchi is still a crucial fixture for both teams as y will be looking to tally up some important points in ongoing ICC World Test Championship.

Key moments from Day 1 morning session

1.       Raba’s opening spell

Team India were rocked early as y lost ir opener Mayank Agarwal in fifth over of innings. Agarwal, who scored centuries in first two Tests, could t bat with same momentum here as he was dismissed for just 10. India's .3, Cheteshwar Pujara became Raba’s second victim of day as right-hander fell for a 9-ball duck. By this st, Indian team were struggling at 16-2 in 8.3 overs.

2.       Captain Kohli’s dismissal

Pujara’s wicket brought in Indian captain Virat Kohli to crease. He joined forces with Rohit Sharma but two batsmen could only man a 23-run partnership. Kohli was dismissed to Anrich rtje in 16th over as right-hander failed to pick a full-length delivery. Kohli became rtje’s first Test wicket to leave India reeling at 39-3.

3.       Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane to rescue

At 39-3, Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane joined Rohit Sharma to counter-attack Proteas bowling line-up. Both batsmen batted through remaining overs till lunch break as Team India reached 71-3 in 23 overs.
