India are currently playing South Africa in the second Test of the three-match series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. On Thursday, Indian captain Virat Kohli had won the toss and elected to bat first. Once again, the batsmen haven't let the team down as India ended Day 1 in a commanding position at 273-3 in 85.1 overs. With Kohli partnered by his deputy Ajinkya Rahane at the start of Day 2, it will be interesting to see whether India can make the most of Day 2 as well.

Weather Predictions and Pitch Report

The weather in Pune was a concern for many before the match started as the city has been experiencing fluctuating showers since the last seven days. Although yesterday's play was not rain-affected, yet it did come to a premature end due to bad light. According to a leading weather forecast portal, Pune will see a couple of afternoon showers and a thunderstorm. It is estimated that Pune will receive at least two hours of rainfall, making rain interruption a huge probability at some point of the day. Indian opener Mayank Agarwal mentioned that the Pune pitch has some moisture in it. The pitch may further dampen if rain occurs.

What happened on Day One?

After choosing to bat first, Virat Kohli's men shined bright. Mayank Agarwal made his second Test match century after his 215 in the last match. Last match's hero, Rohit Sharma was sent back by South Africa's ace pacer, Kagiso Rabada for 14. Cheteshwar Pujara's 58 solidified the innings. While Kohli is currently batting on 63, Rahane's overnight score is 18 not out. Rabada has taken all the three Indian wickets so far and will look to exploit the pitch further today.
