After Team India registered a convincing win over the visiting South African team in Mohali, the Proteas came back strongly in the deciding T20I in Bengaluru to level the three-match series 1-1. Before the action shifts to the game’s longest format, the visitors battled it out against the Indian Board President’s XI at the Dr PVG Raju ACA Sports Complex for a three-day tour game. The South African unit made full use of their practise game as they went onto bat for 64 overs scoring 279-6d. Regular Test opener Aiden Markram cracked an unbeaten century off just 118 balls before retiring himself out. Their bowlers had a crack at the Board XI as they restricted them to just 265-8.

Indian team suffered a huge blow as leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah suffered an injury just a few days prior to the series opener. He will now be replaced by another pacer Umesh Yadav. Also, India’s regular Test wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha is expected to make the cut into the playing 11 in place of struggling Rishabh Pant.
