Ind vs SA: Ravichandran Ashwin reveals why he stopped watching cricket

At stumps on Day 3 in Ind vs SA 1st Test, Ashwin spoke to media and revealed why he stopped watching cricket whenever he is not selected in the Indian team

India are currently hosting Proteas for a three-match Test series between two nations. As first Test went underway at VDCA Stadium on October 2. Indian spin wizard Ravichandran Ashwin made a comeback into playing 11 after 10 months. In his comeback Test, Ashwin was star performer with ball as right-arm spinner scalped 7 wickets in South Africa’s first innings. Ashwin claimed his 27th Test five-wicket haul on his way to figures of 46.2-11-145-7. His 7 wickets enabled India to gain a 71-run lead over visitors as South Africa were bowled out for 431 early on Day 4.

Ashwin reveals why doesn’t watch cricket anymore

While speaking to media at end of Day 3, Ashwin was asked why he stopped watching cricket when he was t selected in Indian team. To this, off-spinner gave a witty response by saying that he has two kids at home who could t sleep well at night.

"For starters, I have two kids who don't sleep that well at nights. Jokes apart, I felt like every time I watch game on TV, I felt like I wanted to play game and I was missing out. It is very natural, everybody goes through it," Ashwin told to reporters.

65-Test veteran also added "I generally tried to do a few or things in my life as well. Books and a bit of archaeology stuff, I enjoyed".

2011 World Cup winner revealed that it was tough for him while he stayed away from game. In order to stay in action, he made full use of this opportunity by playing county cricket for ttinghamshire and league cricket for his state team.

After a strong opening spell in Vishakhapatnam, Ashwin will be hoping to maintain same rhythm for remainder of series. For India to take a 1-0 lead in series, off-spinner will play a crucial role with ball in South Africa’s second innings as well.
