India created a world record for winning most consecutive home series when they beat South Africa convincingly by an innings and 137 runs in the second Test in Pune. Virat Kohli's men went past Australia who had won 10 Test series twice in a row in 2000 and 2008. There is no other team that has more than eight home series wins in a row.

India lost just one Test at home during this winning streak against Australia courtesy Steve Smith and Steve O’Keefe’s exceptional performance on a rank turner in Pune in 2017. India’s last series loss at home came in 2012-13 when England after losing the first Test in Ahmedabad went on to win the next two in Mumbai and Kolkata. The last Test of the series in Nagpur ended in a draw.
