Team India had a couple of injury woes when they faced off against New Zealand at the first Test match in Bengaluru. The Men in Blue did not have Shubman Gill in the Playing XI after he was ruled out because of neck stiffness. The star player's presence was deeply missed after Team India heavily faltered against the Kiwis during their first innings and they were dismissed at a historic low. Ahead of the 2nd Test match in Pune, a big update on the India batter has surfaced, as the assistant India coach clears the air on the batter's status for the upcoming match.

"He looks so (available for the next game). He has a slight discomfort. He batted for a long in Bengaluru in the nets session. I think he will be fine for this test," said Ryan ten Doeschate.

The Assistant India Coach also presented an update on Rishabh Pant 's fitness after he suffered an injury on his knee. Ten Doeschate said that he is also having some discomfort while running between the wickets. He is hopeful of seeing Pant behind the wickets as he did not do wicket-keeping after being hit on the knee by Ravindra Jadeja's delivery.

"He was having slight discomfort while running towards the end range of the movement of his knee while running. Fingers crossed he will be fine to keep wickets in the second test," said Ryan.
The injury blows could cost Team India big-time, as they need to be game-ready for the upcoming five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy series. Pant will be fruitful for the side, given he has been successful in the previous edition of the bilateral tournament. Whether Pant would be in action in full capacity in the 2nd IND vs NZ Test Match is subject to witness.
