This will be the first time Shikhar Dhawan will not be part of India's squad for an ICC tournament in the last 10 years. Other notable players to miss out on World Cup squad are:

During the press conference, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma backed Hardik Pandya's inclusion in the squad and said"

Hardik Pandya is a complete package, his form will be crucial for us at the World Cup. We have picked the best possible combination. We have depth in batting, we have a spin and other bowling options

Meanwhile, BCCI's Honorary Secretary Jay Shah gave World Cup 2023's 'Golden ticket' to Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan. Mr. Bachchan will find himself lucky that he will be able to attend all the matches without any headache as major ticketing controversy has been alleged by the fans who were not able to book tickets for the mega event.

Chief of selection committee Ajit Agarkar announced the squad for the upcoming World Cup as Yuzvendra Chahal, Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson failed to make a cut.

Chief of selection committee Ajit Agarkar, while announcing Team India's 15-member squad for the upcoming World Cup has said that there will not be any changes in the future from the World Cup squad until and unless there is a serious injury.

The last day to submit the final squad for the World Cup is 28th September.

Gautam Gambhir has picked up his squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup. During India's Asia Cup encounter against Nepal, the World Cup winner shared his squad while commentating during the match. There was a notable omission as he preferred Suryakumar Yadav over Shreyas Iyer.

Cricket commentator has backed KL Rahul to be included in team India's World Cup squad and has said that not only his batting but because of his duties and skills behind the stumps, he should be included in the 15-member team.

It will be interesting to see whether KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma will get picked or not as all these batsmen are stacked to bat at the number 4 and 5 position and not to remember Ishan Kishan who will already be there (most likely) after his heroics in Asia Cup match against Pakistan.

Bumrah and Siraj are the front-runners in the pace attack, while Mohammed Shami looks to be the third one. Hardik Pandya will be considered as fast-bowling all-rounder. It all comes down between AShardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna who will both will be added to the squad or just one between them will get a place. We will have to wait and watch.

Squad announcement is expected to be televised on Star-Sports network at 1:30 PM with Ajit Agarkar and Rohit Sharma likely to address a press conference. Meanwhile, the pre-show of the event starts at 1 PM on the same channel as well as on the Disney+hotstar app.
