India vs Australia: Rahul Dravid opens up on ICC giving 2nd lowest rating to Indore pitch

Rahul Dravid opened up on the Indore pitch receiving ICC's 'poor' rating, in the pre-match press conference ahead of the India vs Australia 4th Test.

Indian head coach Rahul Dravid spoke to reporters in pre-match press conference ahead of India vs Australia 4th Test and revealed his thoughts on Indore pitch receiving demerit points from International Cricket Council. pitch used during third Test at Holkar Stadium became talk of town for wrong reasons after match concluded in first hour of play on Day 3. 

first day of third Test saw a total of 14 wickets fall, with spinners dominating proceedings. Out of total of 31 wickets that fell in match, spinners accounted for a total of 26 dismissals. Holkar Stadium n received three demerit points.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters about ICC’s penalty over Indore pitch on Tuesday, Indian coach Dravid said, “ pitch looks okay. Lot of talk around pitches. Whatever it is, we have to learn to play on m. Won’t go too much into it, that’s match referees reading. With WTC points at stake, you look to play on wickets that produce results”. India heads into series finale looking to seal ir spot in ICC World Test Championship final.

Meanwhile, ICC Match Referee Chris Broad provided his take on Indore pitch after India’s defeat and revealed nature of surface. As reported by ICC, Broad said, “ pitch, which was very dry, did t provide a balance between bat and ball, favouring spinners from start”.

“ fifth ball of match broke through pitch surface and continued to occasionally break surface providing little or seam movement and re was excessive and uneven bounce throughout match,” he added. Having said that, fourth Test of series is scheduled to begin from March 9 onwards. India will seal ir spot in ICC WTC final if y win upcoming Test in Ahmedabad.
