The Indian cricket team defeated Bangladesh by 8 wickets to level the three-match series 1-1. The home team successfully chased down 154 after the initial onslaught by opening batsmen Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. The series-deciding third match will be played at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on November 10.
Trailing 0-1 in the series, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. Fortunately, the Cyclone Maha did not prove to be a threat to the game. With a 60-run stand, the Bangladeshi openers provided a solid start for the visitors. Liton Das scored 29 runs while left-hander Mohammad Naim top-scored for the visitors, scoring 36 runs off 31 balls. With a late flourish from skipper Mahmudullah, Bangladesh completed their 20 overs with a total of 153-6. In response, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan provided a rocking start as the hosts raced to 118 without any wicket in less than 11 overs. The stand-in skipper Sharma smashed six fours and six sixes in his 43-ball 85 before falling to spinner Aminul Islam. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul saw Team India through the finish line with 8 wickets in hand and 4.2 overs to spare.
