Ravi Ashwin EDGES Nathan Lyon to Massive Record, Becomes Leading Wicket-Taker in WTC History

Veteran India spinner Ravi Ashwin became the leading wicket-taker in World Test Championship history.

Veteran India spinner Ravi Ashwin became leing wicket-taker in World Test Championship history. Ashwin achieved this feat during first day of ongoing second Test at Pune between India-New Zealand. Before match started, Ashwin needed one wicket to equal Lyon - inste - he got two wickets before lunch. He picked up wicket of Tom Latham to equal Lyon and n removed Will Young to go past Australian. Ashwin took 39 matches to go past Lyon. Ashwin is arguably one of best Test allrounders of generation. Ashwin w has 188 wickets in 39* WTC games. In this list, re are two Australians at fourth and fifth position. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc feature in top five. 

ASHWIN IN ALL-TIME LIST

Ashwin is 33 wickets away from going past former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath to become sixth-highest wicket-taker in Tests. Topping list in Tests, Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralidaran is right up re with Test wickets (800). Following him in second spot is Shane Warne with 708 wickets while England's recently-retired James Anderson is at third spot with 704 wickets.

Also, Ashwin with 530 wickets to his name, is second highest Indian wicket-taker in Tests. Ashwin is certainly a modern-day genius. 

Ind vs NZ 2nd Test UPDATE

At time of filing copy, New Zealand h lost a wicket just after lunch and that was taken by Ashwin as well. Ashwin has picked up all three wickets NZ have lost. Ashwin dismissed a well-set Devon Conway for 76. NZ are currently at 145 for three with Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell in middle.
