India have finished the Day 1 of the 1st Test on a high. After restricting West Indies to a meagre total of 150, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal have developed a solid openinig stand for the first wicket. At stumps on Day 1, India are 80/0 after 23 overs, and are trailing by 70 runs. Sharma on 40* and Jaiswal on 30*.

India are at a comfortable position at 66/0, and are on course to take the lead. However, the rain gods have decided to affect the game and cause an interruption. The play has stopped and the pitch has been covered, as light rain has started to drop.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the IND vs WI 1st Test match, India captain Rohit Sharma revealed he will have a new opening partner against West Indies. The skipper said Yashasvi Jaiswal will open the innings alongside him, while Shubman Gill will bat at no. 3.
