India's Asia Cup squad to be unveiled soon, date announced

Ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, Team India will be testing its resources in the Asia Cup 2023. The multi-nation Asian tournament will begin from August 30, 2023, wherein Pakistan will take on Nepal in the opening match in Multan. However, the Indian team management is yet to announce the squad for the major Asian tournament.

• Rohit Sharma and Co. will play its opening Asia Cup 2023 match against Pakistan on September 2, 2023 
• The Asia Cup 2023 is being co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan under the hybrid model 
• Four matches will be played in Pakistan whereas, nine matches will be held in Sri Lanka under the hybrid model

India's Asia Cup 2023 squad to be announced on August 21: Reports

As per a recent report by ESPNcricinfo, the Ajit Agarkar led Indian cricket team selection committee will be sitting in New Delhi on August 21, 2023, to select the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Team India skipper Rohit Sharma and another selector Shiv Sundar Das, who is with a second-strength Indian squad in Ireland, will join the meeting via video conferencing. 

The selectors will also want to pick the squad for the ODI World Cup 2023, as September 5, 2023, is ICC's deadline to submit the draft squad of the tournament. After the final squad for the Asia Cup 2023 gets picked, the team will line up for a six-day training in Bengaluru, ahead of their flight to Colombo for the multi-nation tournament.

Will KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer make it to the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2023? 

Apart from the announcement of the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2023, the selectors will be debating on the availability of batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in the tournament. Both players are undergoing their rehabilitation period in NCA, Bengaluru, and have also began to do batting practice in the nets. However, their current status fitness is still unclear, though, as per the recent reports and sources they are likely to get picked for the multi-nation tournament.
