International Cricket Council leaves BCCI out of its new working group

It is being reported that the ICC has formed a new working group to establish a new governance structure without any representation from India. Read more.

International Cricket Council (ICC) has put toger a new working group without presence of richest cricket body in world,  Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in it, according to latest media reports in India. This development is set to escalate ongoing feud between ICC and BCCI. It comes one day before BCCI is set to formally appoint former India captain Sourav Ganguly as its new President.

An effort to negate 'Big Three' model

'Big Three' model, which was in place from 1998 to 2016, gave lion's share of ICC's revenue to BCCI, Cricket Australia (CA) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Sources cited to a leing news agency that ICC's revenues have grown in recent times but Big Three model les to BCCI taking home massive profits while or ICC members struggle with finances. new group formed aims to establish a new governance structure in ICC.

It has been reported that aim of group is to get more independent directors in ICC board. group is also void of any representation from ECB. It will be heed by CA chairman Earl Eddings, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani, New Zealand Cricket chairman Greg Barclay, Cricket South Africa President Chris Nenzani, Cricket West Indies President Ricky Skerritt and Cricket Scotland chairman Tony Brian. Earlier, ICC h suggested that it would aim at conducting yearly World T20 tournaments and a Cricket World Cup every three years. BCCI resisted move as it would affect ir media earnings and increase possibility of a player burnout.

A new chapter for BCCI begins on October 23

Sourav Ganguly will assume his position as new BCCI President on October 23. Amit Shah's son, Jay Shah, will serve as Secretary in this new team. Ganguly-led BCCI team will dress issues with ICC in days to come. BCCI has been persistent with wanting to receive higher percentages of ICC revenue since India generates most revenue for ICC.
