IPL 2018 | WATCH: Sourav Ganguly signs up as Delhi Capitals advisor; You have to hear his philosophy on helping out youngsters

With days to go for the 12th edition of the IPL, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly's excitement and readiness is palpable. And this year he's picked a new side to get behind (which is not his home team KKR!). Ganguly has been roped in by the Delhi Capitals as their advisor.

With days to go for the 12th edition of the IPL, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly's excitement and readiness is palpable. And this year he's picked a new side to get behind (which is not his home team KKR!). Ganguly has been roped in by the Delhi Capitals as their advisor.

The 46-year-old appeared joyful while heading to the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium which is the home ground of the Capitals. He has stated his faith in his team's abilities and expressed the belief that the team can do well this season.

The Delhi outfit shared 'Dada's' conversation :


"It is great to be a part of this team. It is a new name, new team and a team with fantastic young players who have actually gotten better. So looking forward to the new season", said Ganguly.

At the same time, 'Dada' also shared his memories about the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium from his time as a player.

"Lots of memories! With so many Test matches and so many one-dayers, it has been a happy-hunting ground for me with lots of hundreds. It will be even better if we qualify this season. That is going to be the most important memory in a couple of months time", he added.

Known as 'God of Off-side' during his heyday, Ganguly did not forget the Delhi fans and thanked them for supporting the team whenever they needed it. He also gave a message as well as a promise to the fans on behalf of the team. The promise was that the newly rechristened Delhi franchise will turn around and play better cricket than what they have played in the last 10 years. He also urged the fans to come out in huge numbers and support the team.

When asked about his interaction with the team's young players Ganguly said that he just tries and helps them in the way they are playing, adding that he makes sure that he does not teach the youngsters as they have their own unique style of playing the game and that is what has made them successful.

Delhi Capitals will kickstart their IPL campaign against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede stadium on March 24.
