IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals suffer another blow as English all-rounder Chris Woakes backs out
Chris Woakes will be favouring resting himself for the English summer instead of playing the cash-rich IPL 2020. The Delhi Capitals now look for replacements.

Delhi Capitals have looked like one of strongest IPL 2020 lineups on paper but team may need to go back to drawing board. With only three weeks remaining for IPL 13 to begin, it is w being reported that English all-rounder Chris Woakes has pulled out of IPL 2020. Woakes was picked up by Capitals at Auctions for ₹1.5 crore.

Chris Woakes IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals face ar pace bowling setback
Delhi Capitals have already been battling injury demons as ir frontline pacers, Kagiso Rabada and Ishant Sharma, are projected to be missing beginning of IPL 2020. Ricky Ponting-coached team will w need to look for ar foreign all-rounder as Chris Woakes has pulled out of upcoming IPL. English all-rounder has been heavily successful in last two years and his stints with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders were decent eugh for him to bag ar IPL contract.
Sky Sports has w cited PA and reported that Woakes is sitting out of IPL 2020 in order to give himself some rest and be prepared for West Indies series of England in June. reports also suggest that Delhi Capitals have been made aware of Woakes' decision and team is on lookout for a replacement.

Delhi Capitals team 2020 will continue to be led by Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer and new players like Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey, Jason Roy and Mohit Sharma will w be joining team that is yet to win its maiden IPL trophy. Capitals will also play home to two major players in form of Ajinkya Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin, captain of Kings XI Punjab, was traded to Capitals ahead of Auctions and only a few days later, Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane was also traded to Capitals.

Delhi Capitals' first match in IPL 2020 schedule is against Kings XI Punjab at Arun Jaitley Stadium on March 30.
