IPL 2020: Franchises invited for crucial Governing Council meeting after coronavirus scare

Amidst the country-wide Coronavirus panic, BCCI has scheduled a meeting with all IPL 2020 franchises on March 14 to determine the future of the tournament.

upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) is scheduled to start from March 29 with a match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. However, amidst rising worldwide panic caused by highly contagious Coronavirus, re are reports circling around stating season is likely to be postponed or cancelled entirely. To determine future of IPL 2020, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently scheduled a meeting for Saturday, March 14.

Coronavirus update: BCCI to decide future of IPL 2020 with franchises

According to a news ncy, meeting will be attended by representatives from all eight IPL 2020 franchises. meeting will see BCCI and franchises take a final call on tournament. In wake of ongoing Coronavirus outbreak, Indian Government recently issued a cancellation of all visas to country till April 15. restriction will mean that overseas players and support staff of all franchises will t be able to participate in opening two-and-a-half weeks of tournament.

While speaking with a news ncy, a BCCI official said meeting will also be discussing unavailability of foreign players. According to latest Coronavirus update, re have been around 77 cases of disease in India which includes 12 of m in Maharashtra alone. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope himself recently said that impending IPL 2020 should eir be postponed or be held in empty stadiums.

Meanwhile, if tournament goes ahead as planned in spite of Coronavirus outbreak, here is IPL 2020 schedule for first five days. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will be seen taking on familiar foes Chennai Super Kings in opening match on March 29 in Mumbai. Here are following few fixtures.
