'I wish I had a paid...': IPL 2024-winning Indian cricketer reacts to another snub for IND vs ZIM

Team India’s squad for the tour to Zimbabwe has been announced on Monday as Shubhman Gill is named as the captain of the side. India’s squad includes much emphasis on youth as players like Nitish Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed picked for the squad.

With India’s main team certainly resting post their involvement in T20 World Cup 2024. A glaring omission of IPL 2024 winning cricketer with Kolkata Knight Riders raised a lot of eyebrows. And as it turns out the cricketer reacted to yet another snub and took a sly dig at indian selectors.

Kolkata Knight Rider’s crafty spinner Varun Chakravarthy did not take too kindly with his omission from the squad for India vs Zimbabwe. Varun Chakravarthy was left hurting that despite Team India resting its starters, he wasn’t deemed to be good enough among the next best players.

Varun Chakravarthy took to his Instagram story and took a sly dig at selectors and indirectly hinted that selection in India takes place based on popularity and not on performances. The KKR mystery spinner posted  a caption on his Insta story which read, “I wish I had a paid PR agency”. The story was later deleted by Varun Chakravarthy.

Varun Chakravathy’s omission from the Indian side for Zimbabwe tour certainly comes a surprise as he had a splendid season with champions KKR. In 15 games, Varun Chakravarthy picked up 21 wickets and was the leading wicket taker for the Knight Riders in the campaign.

India’s Squad for Zimbabwe series

India will play a five match T20 series with Zimbabwe which starts from 6th July and will run till 14th July. Shubman Gill is elected as the Captain for Team India in the series and an emphasis on youth and rewarding IPL performances has been made.  Here is India’s squad for Zimbabwe tour.
