Now that the IPL Retention is done, speculations are rife over when will the mega auction of the cash-rich league happen. As per sources, the much-awaited event is set to take place in Riyadh on November 24-25, with franchises revealing their retained players. Just last week, all the 10 franchises announced their retained players list. It turned out to be full of surprises and some expected decisions. But now, all the focus is on the auction as a number of big names will go under the hammer. Most of the teams have tried to retain their core and build around that, while some other franchises would start from scratch. It is not the first time that the auction would take place outside India.

There is no confirmation on the dates as yet. A confirmation should come soon. In all probability, the auction will coincide with the first Border-Gavaskar Test at Perth that starts from November 22.
The teams retained a total of 46 players while investing a cumulative sum of βΉ558.5 crore. Out of a total of 46 players retained across all franchises, 36 players are Indian. Out of these, 10 players are uncapped Indian stars.

With the release of IPL-winning skipper Shreyas Iyer from Kolkata Knight Riders , Rishabh Pant from Delhi Capitals and KL Rahul from Lucknow Super Giants , three top-class Indian captaincy options will be available who are looking for a new skipper for their side.
Notably, no England players were retained by franchises this time around. Various star players like Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Harry Brook, Phil Salt, and Will Jacks were let go.

These players missed out on some part of their season due to international commitments, while Harry Brook pulled out due to personal reasons. England batter Jason Roy pulled out of the IPL ahead of this season due to personal reasons.
