IPL 2025 Player retention: The excitement around the IPL 2025 mega auction scales new heights with every passing day. The IPL Governing Council recently announced the retention rules for the mega auctions and it has added a lot of spice to how the player auction pool might look like. The purse size for each franchise is INR 12 crores. As per the newly introduced retention rules, franchises can retain 5 players for a total of INR 75 crores.

RP Singh's Bold Prediction For Royal Challengers Bengaluru

The IPL Governing Council has made the mega auctions interesting and has ensured that more players enter the auction pool. It will be a brave decision for any franchise to shell out INR 75 crores and retain five players. This is will leave them with only INR 45 crores in the mega auction. The 10 IPL franchises will carefully have to consider all their options before finalizing their final player retention list.

India's former left arm medium pacer and the winner of the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup , RP Singh has made a very bold prediction for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB every year assemble the strongest team on paper, but somehow the results don't go their way. The mega auctions present RCB with a golden opportunity of starting from a scratch and put an end to their trophy drought.\

'I feel Royal Challengers Bengaluru don't have any problem. They might just retain one player in Virat Kohli and release everyone else, and later use the RTM. If we see the value taking Rajat Patidar as an example, will we get him for more or less than 11 crores at the auction', Singh said while speaking on Colors Cineplex.

The IPL Governing Council has introduced the 'Uncapped Player Rule' which might give franchises like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) some cushion if they want to persist with someone like MS Dhoni . The rule says that if a capped player hasn't played in any international match for five years across formats and also doesn't have BCCI's central contract then he will be considered as an uncapped player.
