All eight Indian Premier League (IPL) teams are getting ready to participate in IPL Auction 2020 on Thursday. Some big names are going under hammer today and in typical IPL fashion, it is very probable that an unkwn youngster may take home a seven-figure contact today. Ahead of auction, a leading Indian media daily on Wednesday interviewed original IPL auctioneer, Richard Madley.

Richard Madley spills beans on IPL Auction

Richard Madley became nation's auctioneer every year when he took to st and sold biggest cricket players in world. In 2018, Madley was controversially relieved of his duties and had expressed disappointment over same. In interview, Madley recently spoke about his IPL journey and plans that he has in place.

Madley looked back at his time in IPL with fondness and reminisced on  opportunity of being associated with IPL since its inception. He shared a few details about inception of IPL and how entire journey has been enriching. Madley also revealed that he did t understand extent of IPL's glamour initially as he had clue about relevance of celebrities who were involved in competition as owners.

When asked about most controversial moment he has had during an auction, Madley looked back at two bids. He revealed that both those bids included Royal Challengers Bangalore, who clashed with Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders. Madley prided himself on handling se moments well and emphasised that his value as an auctioneer was tested in se tough moments. He also expressed great enthusiasm on asked about returning to being an IPL auctioneer in future and urged BCCI to let fans decide auctioneer for 2021 mega auction.
