IPL auction in Fidel Edwards' radar, 39-year-old WI pacer looks to emulate Sreesanth

With IPL auction for IPL 2021 season set to take place on February 18, a number of players — both new and old — have thrown ir hats in ring in hopes of getting picked by one of teams in cash-rich league. Amidst many well-kwn players and IPL veterans like Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell will be lesser-kwn ones like West Indies' Fidel Edwards, all jostling for a place in eight IPL sides. Returning to league after more than a dece, Edwards will be one of oldest players in auction. However, his recent vein of form will be an attraction for many teams who are on hunt for a pacer this season.

Fidel Edwards eyes Sreesanth-style return; aims for IPL 2021 

With his long and satisfying tenure with  Hampshire County Club coming to an end, West Indies native Fidel Edwards has set his sights on a comeback for his national team. In ditional to throwing him name in for IPL auction, Edwards has also me himself available for West Indies ahe of this year's ICC T20 World Cup. If selected, this will be 39-year-old's first international match since 2012 when he played a Test match against Banglesh. Edwards' last T20I game for West Indies side came against Sri Lanka, also in 2012.

Despite this, fast bowler does t have too many concerns over his or lack of international experience. He claims that he feels fitter than ever before and his bowling does rest of talking for him. Currently representing Delhi Bulls in Abu Dhabi T10 League, Edwards bowled many of fastest deliveries of Caribbean Premier League season of 2020, crossing  148 kph (92 mph) multiple times.

His last IPL game came in 2009, as a part of w-defunct Deccan Chargers side. major reason for Edwards' lack of visibility in IPL post-2009 has to do with his 2015 contract with Hampshire.  contract required that Edwards make himself available for entirety of domestic English season which regularly clashed with IPL. However, w that he is longer associated with group, Edwards is hoping to become one of rare comeback stories of IPL.
