IPL chairman ridicules ICC for delaying long overdue T20 World Cup decision
IPL chairman Brijesh Patel has hit out at ICC saying that he has no idea as to why the cricket body delayed the decision to postpone the T20 World Cup to 2021.

Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel has hit back at International Cricket Council (ICC) over ir delay in decision to postpone T20 World Cup in Australia. T20 World Cup was scheduled to take place later this year. However, in latest ICC meeting on Monday, it was decided to postpone tournament until 2021 due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

While talking to Indian Express, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said after ICC meeting that he has idea why ICC delayed decision to postpone T20 World Cup. He said that ICC should have called off World Cup much earlier and also given all boards eugh time to make ir own plans and schedules. He said that BCCI could have planned IPL much earlier. current edition of IPL was scheduled for March 29 start but tournament was postponed due to COVID-19.

Following ICC meeting on Monday, current edition of T20 World Cup was back pushed to October-vember 2021 due to COVID-19. Apart from postponing this year's edition, ICC decided to push T20 World Cup 2021 to October – vember 2022 with final on 13 vember 2022

After ICC's decision to postpone tournament until next year, IPL Governing Council has convened an emergency meeting on Friday to decide course of cash-rich tournament. A member of Governing Council has confirmed to Republic Media Network that 2020 edition is likely to be shortened to 6 weeks and will be played between October and vember mostly in UAE.

BCCI looking to take IPL to UAE
Brijesh Patel, while speaking to Republic TV, has said that BCCI has written to central government, seeking its permission to hold IPL in UAE between end of September and first week of vember. Recently, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, during his chat with Team India cricketer Mayank Agarwal, also hinted at possibility of IPL 2020 being conducted outside India. While UAE has emerged as a likely venue for 13th edition of IPL, reports have also suggested that board has considered Mumbai and Pune as an alternative venue to st entire league considering infrastructure.
While speaking to a news channel, Sourav Ganguly said that IPL is t only important for India but also for rest of world as it is t just India but or boards that gain from it as well. Da n ded that BCCI distributes 10-20% of income from tournament among all boards and so, it is t just BCCI taking every penny or every pie of whatever, but it is also shared as well.
