IPL Retentions 2024: Ahead of the IPL Mega auctions, there is a lot of buzz around the cash rich Indian Premier League. The IPL Retentions have kept the fans on the edge of their seats and the retentions are surely going to make the auction interesting. Alongside the rumours of Virat Kohli returning as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain and MS Dhoni being retained by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), there are also very strong rumours which suggest that Rishabh Pant will part ways with Delhi Capitals (DC).
Rishabh Pant is an asset for any team. The India youngster is equally good with the bat and the keeping gloves and also provides an option of functioning as a leader. Pant's association with Delhi Capitals has been a long one and he has been synonymous with the franchise, but if Pant leaves Delhi Capitals and goes back to the auction pool, there will be two franchises that will break the bank for him and will look to secure his services for the next three years.

Here Are The Two Franchises That Might Break The Bank For Rishabh Pant
Royal Challengers Bengaluru: The captaincy crisis for RCB is bigger as compared to any other IPL franchise. If few reports are to be believed, then RCB are letting go of their skipper Faf du Plessis. There are a few factors to it. Faf, despite his leadership, has been pretty dismal with the bat for RCB.

The age factor also comes to play over here. Faf, who is forty right now might not be retained by RCB. There are strong rumours doing the rounds that Virat Kohli will return as the RCB skipper, but that is unlikely to happen. This creates a huge opportunity for RCB to bid for Pant in the auction. Let's not forget that Dinesh Karthik has retired too and RCB need a good wicketkeeper-batsman. In Pant, they also get their next leader.
Punjab Kings: PBKS and RCB have encountered similar kind of fortunes so far in the IPL. Both the teams have featured in the cash rich league from the inaugural season, but haven't won a trophy. Punjab Kings recently announced Ricky Ponting as their Head Coach.

Now, Ponting and Pant have shared great working relations and hence this opens up a possibility that Pant might go to Punjab Kings considering that they also need a skipper who can lead them. Punjab Kings' skipper Shikhar Dhawan too announced his retirement from the game earlier this year.
