BCCI reveals the IPL 2024 auction venue; Check out the players going under the hammer

The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) confirmed on Sunday, December 3, that the Indian Premier League mini-auction for the 2024 season will take place in Dubai on December 19. The auction will be held abroad for the first time.

All set for the IPL 2024 auction

As per PTI reports, 1166 participants have signed up for the auction, which is the final mini-auction before the big one next year. Thirty of the 77 available spots would go to international players. The combined budget of the ten teams is Rs 262.95 crore.

The reports further say that Australian players who were a part of the World Cup 2023 winning side, such as Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc, will be up for auction. Rachin Ravindra, the highly-regarded young all-rounder from New Zealand, will be offered for a base price of Rs 50 crore. IPL teams have taken notice of Ravindra after his incredible performance in the 2023 World Cup, which included 543 runs scored and 5 wickets taken in 10 games.

In the upcoming days, the IPL organising committee will share the shortlist of players who will be available for the auction.

The deadline for teams to retain players expired on Sunday, November 26, and teams began aggressively releasing players at that time. The trade window will only close on December 12, one week prior to the mini-auction, and it is now open.

Gujarat Titans are left with max purse after Hardik Pandya's trade

One of the league's most historic trades occurred during the trading window when Hardik Pandya, who took the Gujarat Titans to the IPL 2022 final and back to victory in 2023, returned to the Mumbai Indians in an all-cash deal. Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was also moved by the Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

On the deadline day of November 26, the teams kept a total of 173 players.

Gujarat Titans will enter the auction with the highest purse of Rs 38.15 crore as a result of the Hardik Pandya transaction, while Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals have the maximum purses of Rs 31.4 crore and Rs 28.95 crore, respectively.

The schedule for IPL 2024 season will be reportedly out after the dates for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections are confirmed, according to reports.
