'Can see a war between CSK and.. ': R Ashwin names a player who could cause chaos in IPL auction

Following the conclusion of the exhaustive ICC ODI World Cup 2023, it is the developments from the world of IPL that have once again gripped the section of cricket news. While the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League will take place at its usual time, i.e., somewhere between the second quarter of 2024, the auction of the said event is looming on the horizon. December 19, 2023, is the scheduled date of the auction and before that, all the teams have announced the players they want to keep and lose.

Franchises may go all out for Shahrukh Khan

The IPL or as the knowers of the game call it, "The Cash Rich" league is all set to witness yet another auction before the much-anticipated 17th season. This time names of 590 players will be called out, and once again it will be intriguing to see who becomes the record signing. Sam Curran currently holds the title at Rs. 18.50 crore, and in the coming auction, all eyes will be on how much Rachin Ravindra will fetch.

From the domestic circle, Shahrukh Khan might emerge as one of the hottest properties in the auction and as per veteran India spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, franchises like CSK and Gujarat may go all out for Khan. Ashwin thinks Shahrukh's demand may even take him further above the price at which he was acquired by Punjab Kings.

"I can definitely see a war between CSK and Gujarat for Shahrukh Khan. Gujarat have let go of Hardik Pandya, Gujarat needs a player who can finish the innings, a sort of power player. and they need a power player. Shahrukh was at Rs 9 crore At Kings, and I though he showed his skills pretty well. Is it a decent release? Because I think he might end up going for Rs 12-13 crore again," said Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube channel.

CSK may sacrifice Starc for Shahrukh Khan

According to R Ashwin, CSK currently needs a locality and Shahrukh aptly fills the job description, hence, he is of the view that if the situation propels then the Yellow outfit could even overlook Mitchell Starc to get hold of Shahrukh Khan.

"CSK might even take a chance of missing out on Mitchell Starc to get Shahrukh Khan because they don't have a local player or a presence. They went for Shahrukh Khan in the mega auction, and that's why I'm guessing so."
