Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has retained Virat Kohli for a staggering sum of Rs. 21 crore ahe of IPL 2025 auction. This move has sparked speculation that Kohli might be reinstated as captain, a role he held for 9 years before stepping down in 2021. With Faf du Plessis, previous captain, being released by franchise, possibility of Kohli leing RCB again seems likely.

Virat Kohli to captain RCB again? RCB coach's big comment

After retentions for IPL 2025 were revealed on Thursday, RCB's he coach Andy Flower has issued a statement on Virat Kohli. Flower has said that Kohli was one of “leers” who helped side reach playoffs in IPL 2024 and is looking forward to his leership again in 2025.

“Virat Kohli was one of leers that propelled us into playoffs in 2024. We will be looking for his leership again coming into 2025,” Flower said.     

Virat Kohli's retention as a first choice, coupled with his experience and leership skills, makes him a prime candidate for captaincy role. RCB's remaining purse of Rs. 83 crore will be utilized in upcoming auction to strengn ir squ.

or two retained players, Rajat Patidar (Rs. 11 crore) and Yash Dayal (Rs. 5 crore), will likely play important roles in supporting Virat Kohli, if he indeed takes on captaincy mantle.
