Parthiv Patel Receives First Coaching Gig In IPL As Gujarat Titans Bring Him In As Dual Coach

The Gujarat Titans announced on Wednesday that former team India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel will serve as their assistant and batting coach in the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Parthiv will play a dual role on the support staff, which is currently led by head coach Ashish Nehra.

"With a distinguished 17-year career as a former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Parthiv brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team. As the Titans prepare for the upcoming Indian Premier League season, Parthiv's insights into batting techniques and strategies will play a crucial role in enhancing the players' skills.

"Parthiv, who is known for his sharp cricketing acumen and ability to mentor young talent, will strengthen the coaching staff and contribute to player development and performance." the one-time IPL Champion said in an official statement.

Parthiv takes over the spot of former India coach Gary Kirsten, who exited the franchise to become Pakistan Cricket's white-ball coach. But the South African's stint did not last long there as he stepped down before Pakistan's white-ball tour to Australia began. He joined the PAK national cricket side in April 2024, and Jason Gillespie assumed the role to become an all-format coach for the side.

This will be the first coaching role in the IPL for Parthiv, who retired back in 2020. Right after his retirement, the wicketkeeper-batter served as talent scout for Mumbai Indians for three seasons until 2023. He was also the batting coach for MI Emirates in the inaugural season of ILT20.
