Irfan Pathan lauds Sourav Ganguly for NOT going ahead with Ranji Trophy in 2021 season
Irfan Pathan feels that it is logistically difficult to hold India's premier domestic tournament i.e. the Ranji Trophy which is played among 38 teams annually.

first tournament of India's domestic cricket season concluded recently with Tamil Nu going onto win Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy by beating Baroda in final. While re were doubts about wher Ranji Trophy 2021 season will be getting underway anytime soon, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday, anunced that it would organise Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021, Senior women's one-dayers, and Vio Mank Trophy - U19 limited-overs tournament, which put to rest all talks about conducting Ranji Trophy. w, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has come out in support of decision taken by Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI.

Irfan Pathan speaks on t having Ranji Trophy season
This will be first time in 84 years that Indian domestic season will t have its Ranji Trophy tournament and former cricketer feels that it is logistically difficult to hold tournament which is played amongst as many as 38 teams. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, in his letter to all state associations, accessed by ANI, informed m that decision was taken with an eye on coronavirus pandemic and feedback of state bodies. dates and schedule for aforementioned tournaments are yet to be finalised. Earlier BCCI h asked state associations to give ir suggestions on domestic calendar after majority of season was delayed because of pandemic. pandemic also led to IPL 2020 being shifted to UAE, with four-match Women's T20 Challenge held alongside playoffs of men's event. recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was also played across seven centres since January 10.

IPL 2021: IPL auction date anunced
Apart from domestic tournament, IPL auction is all set to take place on February 18 in Chennai after first two India vs England Test matches. date of IPL 2021 auction was confirmed on Indian Premier League's Twitter handle. Ahe of auction, all franchises submitted ir list of retained and released players, with most of team retaining ir core players, as y look to furr strengn ir squs by ding fresh faces from auction.
