‘It Showed How Much It Meant’: NCA Chief VVS Laxman Applauds Rohit & Kohli’s Gesture Towards Rahul

Team India's win at the T20 World Cup 2024 was something they snatched out of the shark's jaws as the resilient South Africa almost had the game in their favour. It was historic, as the Indian Cricket Team broke the longstanding title drought and catered a hard-fought silverware in their cabinet. India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the World Cup Final on June 29 at Barbados to win their second Twenty20 title in 17 years and their first ICC trophy in 11 years. NCA Chief and Indian coach for the Zimbabwe series, VVS Laxman, reflected on his thoughts over the win.

VVS Laxman recognized Rahul Dravid's passionate celebration after T20WC title win, hails Rohit & Kohli's gesture towards him
Legendary Indian batsman VVS Laxman praised the team's tenacity in emerging victorious from the 2017 T20 World Cup, citing the players' and former coach Rahul Dravid's fervent celebration as an example of how much the victory meant to them.
"Everyone showed their emotions and it showed how much it meant to each and every player in the squad, as well as the support staff, the emotions were really high. You saw Hardik Pandya breaking down once he bowled the last delivery. You saw Rohit Sharma on the ground.

"The entire country is rejoicing this win. It was a special feeling keeping in mind we had come close (to winning the title) six months back (ODI World Cup). We should have won the 50-over World Cup, dominating the entire tournament but not being able to cross the final hurdle," The NCA Chief and Indian coach for the Zimbabwe series exclaimed

Laxman gave particular attention to Dravid's heartfelt jubilation, despite his habitual dislike of emotional outbursts in public. He also praised Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma for their kind gestures towards him and for passing the trophy to him while the squad and coaching staff commemorated the moment together.
"I thought it was a great gesture by Rohit and Virat Kohli to hand over the trophy to him (Dravid) and the way he celebrated by lifting the trophy, it showed how much it meant to each one of them," said Laxman
