After being associated with the T20 World Cup winning side as a reserve, Rinku Singh has fetched play time in India's series against Zimbabwe. Singh, who in a short span of time has emerged as one of the prolific strikers of the cricket ball, has entered the league of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya when it comes to six-hitting. Rinku played a blinder of a knock against Zimbabwe in the 2nd T20I, took place on Sunday at the Harare Sports Club. He smashed five sixes in the 22-ball-48-run innings and thereby helped India reach a colossal total of 234 runs.
Rinku Singh Already Walking Among Giants Like MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli
As a potential full-time finisher, Rinku Singh has already made it to the league of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Rinku's death overs flourish against Zimbabwe has taken his sixes amount to 17 in the last two overs. In other words, he has hit 17 sixes in the last two overs in T20Is. What's a major talking point here is the amount of time he has taken to amass the amount. It took just 48 balls for Rinku Singh to get there. Only MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya are ahead of him when it comes to sixes hit in the last two overs. Dhoni finished with 19 sixes in 258 balls. Virat Kohli is also retired with 24 sixes in 158 balls. Hardik Pandya is the top with 32 sixes in 193 balls.
At the rate at which Rinku Singh is proceeding, it is safe to say he will overtake MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli in no time. He may leapfrog Dhoni in the Zimbabwe series itself as three more games are yet to be played in the series. Currently the series is tied at 1-1. Hosts Zimbabwe won the first T20I by 13 runs. Team India bounced back in the second T20I and hammered Zimbabwe by 100 runs to level the score.
