'Punches shall be thrown': England star recalls heated 'boxing match' with Mohammed Siraj

Cricket player Phil Salt indulged in a heated argument on the field with Mohammed Siraj in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match between the Delhi Capital (DC) and Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) earlier this year in May. He remembered and explained what actually happened during the match.

The verbal spat broke out during the fifth over of the DC's innings. Salt hit two sixes and a four of the first three balls and in a rage mode, even the RCB pacer threw a bouncer. After which Salt looked at the square-leg umpire for a wide. The batter after which was spotted having a chat with the RCB pacer. Other players such as David Warner and RCB skipper Faf du Plessis came in between the scene to end the issue.
Salt recalls the incident
Salt recalled the verbal argument and said that from outside it looked like the two would go for blows. Speaking about the same, he said, "It's a storm in a teacup. It was looking entertaining and it looked as if punches shall be thrown. I began a boxing match with the fingers in face, but it was not at all like that."

The Delhi-based side Trumped RCB in the encounter, successfully won the match and Salt outshone with a victorious 87 runs from just 45 balls. On the other, Siraj did not perform well as he fetched just 28 runs in two overs.
Men in Blue to be in action soon
Now, India will be back in action during the 2023 edition of the Asia Cup, which is set to be played in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Mohammad Siraj will not be a part of India's 17-member quad for the ODI continental matches and the fast bowler is currently practicing for the same with the other men in blue in Alur, Bengaluru.

The Asia Cup is also set to begin on Wednesday, August 30, with Pakistan and Nepal playing in the opening contest at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

The India team will begin their campaign with a clash against Pakistan on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
