India vs Sri Lanka ODI series: Rohit Sharma's Team India has been lackluster in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The hosts are currently leading the series 1-0, something that has been rare and unheard of for the past few years. There has always been talks about the performances of Indian batsmen against spinners and on slow tracks, but the issue has now been brutally exposed in the ongoing ODI series in Sri Lanka
'Was It A Shock? I Would Say Yes': Abhishek Nayar
After an unexpected draw in the first match, Team India had to step up in the second match in order to secure a lead in the ongoing ODI series, but things have now taken an ugly turn. Sri Lanka won the second One Day International (ODI) by 32 runs and have gained an unassailable lead in the series. More than Sri Lanka's win, it was Team India's inability to play spin that shocked people. Rohit Sharma too opened up on taking risks and his fearless approach after the game ended in the fashion it did.
In the post-match press conference, India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar shed some light on how India should have approached the game on a track that had so much spin on offer. Nayar went on on to say that he was shocked by the result and reiterated on the need to understand and rectify the shortcomings.

Abhishek Nayar Said:
Was it a shock? I would say yes, there is a surprise. But you anticipate and understand that in these conditions the game can turn on its head because there is so much spin on offer. Even if you look at the last game, it was relatively easy to score against the new ball. We want to go back and understand, and rectify, why it happened twice in a row. The day before yesterday, we were able to stitch partnerships. But today we lost quite a few wickets.
No Way Out For Team India
Contrary to everybody's expectations, cricketing juggernaut, Team India find themselves on backfoot and in a bit of turmoil. They somehow played out a draw in the first ODI and endured a shocking defeat in the second game. The 'men in blue' can't win the series now, but can only equal it. This is certainly not the start that Gautam Gambhir might have wanted for himself and the team, especially in the ODIs
