'It's important to fool yourself ': Suryakumar Yadav gives insight to his knock - WATCH

In the 3rd T20 game between India and West Indies, Suryakumar Yadav stepped up for Team India and became the differentiator; that was missing from the squad in the first two T20s of the series. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma took the game away from West Indies

Chasing 160, India did not get off to a favorable start and lost both openers- Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill- inside the powerplay overs. At 34/2 after 4.2 overs, youngster Tilak Varma made his way to the middle to give support to SKY. Following that, it was raining sixes and fours from both ends, particularly from Suryakumar Yadav's front. The two put on an 87-run stand for India and took the match away from the hosts. 

Surya held out after scoring 83 off 44 but Varma went on till the end and ended the match with an unbeaten 49 off 37.  The match was eventually finished by Hardik Pandya with a clean strike that sailed over the boundary. India won the match by 7 wickets and Suryakumar Yadav was adjudged the player of the match.

Suryakumar Yadav gave a breakdown of his fiery knock

Following the game the protagonists behind India's win, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, came together for a friendly chat. The two asked some match-related questions from each other. During the conversation, Varma told SKY, he didn't understand his approach. At first, you wanted to take some time out in the powerplay but then you decided to take apart from the first ball. So, what went through your mind, asked Varma.

"Sometimes it is important to bluff with oneself. Today I fooled myself at the time when my batting came. I went down with the intention that I will take my time in the initial phase and then pick up in the middle overs slowly. However, as soon as I played the first balls, I looked at the team's requirement and decided to play the way I generally do and not resort to anything different. So, I did the same thing that I usually do, I enjoyed myself, expressed it to the core, and loved batting with the star", Surya told Tilak, while referencing him as the star.
