Jacques Kallis, the South African legend turns 44 today. He is widely considered as the greatest all-rounder, the game has produced in both Tests and ODIs.

South African legend Jacques Kallis is widely considered as the greatest all-rounder the game has produced in both Tests and ODIs. Kallis was a rare treat for all the cricket fans. The all-rounder displayed his prowess in both batting and bowling.

Kallis showed his ability as a player in both Tests and ODIs. He amassed 13,289 runs at an average of 55.37 and also took 292 wickets in 166 Tests. In ODI cricket, he scored 11,579 runs at an average of 44.36. He ended with 273 wickets in 328 ODI matches. Kallis is also the 5th highest run-scorer in international cricket with 25,534 runs. He scored 62 tons.

ICC wishes for the South African Legend:

The testimony to his greatness as an all-rounder is that he is still the only cricketer in the world to score in excess of 10,000 runs and take 200 plus wickets in both Test and ODIs. Kallis ended up as the third-highest run-getter in Test cricket behind Tendulkar and Ponting. He scored 45 Test centuries in the process.

Some of his achievements:

In the year 1998, he led the South African team to win the ICC (International Cricket Council) Champions Trophy event, held in Bangladesh. He was also honoured as the "Player of the Series" for his astounding performance.

He was named as "ICC Player of the Year" in 2005

He was also selected as “ICC Test Player of the Year” in 2007

Wisden named him the "Leading Cricketer in the World" in the year 2008 for his impressive performances in the year 2007

In the year 2005, he was awarded “Sir Garfield Sobers" Trophy being the "ICC Player of the Year"

He was selected as one of the "Wisden Cricketers of the Year" in 2013
