James Anderson Raises Glass Of Toast For The English Crowd One Last Time From English Change Room

ENG vs WI: James Anderson, the English stalwart has hung up his boots and has retired from international cricket. Anderson's last international match for England came against West Indies at Lord's, known as the 'Home of Cricket'. England have made some stellar start to the West Indies series. With the chances of qualifying for the finals of World Test Championship, England need to make every chance count and they have done exactly the same.

More than the first Test match of the English Summer, it was James Anderson's retirement that grabbed all the headline. Anderson who has been a part and parcel of the English Test squad since 2003 will be leaving a huge void behind him which needs to be fulfilled by the English cricket team. Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum have their eyes set on the Ashes, still eighteen months away, but as far as spearheading the attack is concerned, it will be a tough job for them to find someone who can even come close to Jimmy.

It has been a fairytale ending for Anderson, a befitting farewell for a great who has demonstrated nothing, but just pure magic with his immaculate bowling skills. The 41-year-old bowler who played his final Test match at the 'Home of Cricket' received a special 'Guard of Honour' from both the teams. After the match ended. Anderson acknowledged all the love that he has been getting from the English crowd and raised a toast to them.

Anderson Misses Out On Warne's Record

Anderson will go down as one of the greats of the game and there are no doubts about it. The English pacer played for 21 odd years and has number of records and accolades to his name. Anderson happens to be the only pacer to feature in the top 3 of highest Test wicket-takers. Anderson with 704 Test wicket is only behind Muthiah Muralidaran (800 wickets) and Shane Warne (708) wickets.
