James Anderson has finally said goodbye to cricket after a career spanning 21 years and 188 test matches when England locked horns with West Indies in the first Test of the English Summer at the home of cricket Lords. 

In his 188th and final test match, Jimmy Anderson picked up a total of 4 wickets and took his tally of test wickets to 704. Jimmy picked up three wickets in the final innings but missed out on picking up the final wicket of the test match.

The Last Ever Test Wicket For James Anderson

James Anderson on his final day as a cricketer did pick up the very first wicket of the day for England when he got Joshua Da Silva of West Indies caught behind. 

It was a wicket Jimmy Anderson has taken hundreds of time in his career. An absolute peach of  a delivery with a faint late out swing to get the batter's edge and get him caught behind.

As soon as Jimmy Anderson took the first wicket of the day, the crowd at Lords stood up in applause and roared for their Greatest Ever Bowler. As it turned out it was the last wicket Jimmy Anderson will ever take in test cricket.

James Anderson has been terrorizing the batters with his devastating swing for 21 years in cricket. Making his debut as a fierce youngster in 2003, Jimmy Anderson went on to play 188 test matches and retires having taken 704 test wickets. James Anderson alongside Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne as the only bowlers to take more than 700 wickets in their Test careers.

James Anderson's retirement truly means an end of an era for cricket and some might say he's still the very top in the business, but Anderson walks away with a view of allowing the next generation to take over.
