Jasprit Bumrah imitates R Ashwin during nets session ahead of the final Test

Ahead of the Cape Town Test against South Africa, Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah added some lighter fun to the nets by accurately replicating off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin's bowling movement.

The second Test of the two-match series is scheduled for Newlands in Cape Town, with India hoping to rebound from a humiliating innings and 32-run defeat in the first Test at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

The Indian squad has been working hard in the nets in preparation for the key encounter. Bumrah, on the other hand, brought a sense of levity to the practice session by impersonating Ashwin's bowling motion. The funny encounter was recorded in a video released by Star Sports' X account, highlighting the camaraderie among the Indian camp ahead of the crucial Test match. The caption read:

“Hey Ash, is that you? 🤔 @Jaspritbumrah93 could fool anybody with this uncanny imitation of @ashwinravi99 in the #TeamIndia nets! 😂 Name another bowler you'd love to see the pacer mimic. 😉.”

India's standout bowler in the first Test of the series against South Africa in Centurion was Jasprit Bumrah. In 26.4 overs, the right-arm pacer demonstrated his accuracy and talent by scoring 4/69. Bumrah made significant contributions by firing Keegan Petersen and Tony de Zorzi and then clearing the room for Kagiso Rabada and Nandre Burger.

Though India scored 245 in the first innings, South Africa responded with a challenging total of 408, which presented difficulties for the other Indian bowlers. Shardul Thakur finished with stats of 1/101 from 19 overs, while Prasidh Krishna, making his debut, let up 93 runs in 20 overs but was able to take one wicket.

Ravichandran Ashwin finished with stats of 1/41 from 19 overs, while Mohammed Siraj provided 2/91 in 24 overs. In the first Test, the Indian bowling team had to contend with a strong South African batting lineup despite Bumrah's outstanding performance. To tie the series, the squad would hope for a better overall performance in the next Cape Town Test, starting this Wednesday.
