According to reports, the injury is not that serious but the board members are in no mood to risk playing him in the upcoming matches. In addition to this, it had been stated that there was a little bit of stress in the lower back region and it was imperative to evaluate the injury to chalk out a further plan of action in order to assess any future implications as Bumrah always put pressure on his front foot that in turn put pressure on his lower vertebrae.

The Indian captain, Virat Kohli, and coach, Ravi Shashtri, have taken Bumrah's injury into consideration and have often been found to rest him for the limited over matches against teams such as New Zealand, Australia, etc. The bowler's absence would be a major set back for the Indian Cricket team. Umesh Yadav has been named as Bumrah's replacement.
