'There Is No Greater Honour': KKR Congratulate Gautam Gambhir On Becoming New Team India Head Coach

Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the new head coach of Team India. The announcement was made by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Tuesday evening. 

As Gautam Gambhir was announced as the new team India Head Coach, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) sent a special message to congratulate their legendary IPL winning captain and mentor.

There is no denying that Gautam Gambhir is the greatest player to have donned the Purple and Gold outfit of Kolkata Knight Riders. Gambhir captained KKR to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014 and then upon returning as the franchise's mentor in 2024 he once again led them to their third IPL crown.

As Gautam Gambhir was appointed the head coach, KKR took to X to congratulate their legend. 

“There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team”, wrote KKR in their post on X congratulating Gautam Gambhir.

Gautam Gambhir takes over the job from Rahul Dravid who departed after bringing home a World Cup post India's triumph in T20 World Cup 2024. 

Gautam Gambhir's First Assignment as Team India Coach

Gautam Gambhir's first assignment as the head coach of Indian Cricket Team will be the India's tour of Sri Lanka for 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. 

However, the big test for Gautam Gambhir's coaching will be India's series against New Zealand then South Africa followed by an away series to Australia where they will aim to retain the Border Gavaskar trophy.

Gambhir's first scalp at an ICC tournament will be the Champions Trophy in 2025 alongside India's ongoing schedule for World Test Championship 2025.
