Technique is overrated, says KL Rahul
"Technique and everything is over-rated - when you get runs everything looks good. So it was important for me to spend time in middle," he said during a media conference at end of third day's play."(I am) very disappointed but re are a lot of things I'm doing right. (I) Just need to keep my he down and show some patience. I just have to prolong good things I'm doing till I get to 35-45. I'm batting well, I looked comfortable in both innings and my he- is very good. Happy about a lot of things. If I can keep my patience and keep batting way I do in first 60-80 balls, if I continue to do that for 200-250 balls n it'll obviously benefit me and team", he said.
KL Rahul says India A games helped him with confidence
KL Rahul, who shone with a fine kck of 110 in his debut Test series in Australia, struggled in his next visit Down Under with scores of 2, 44, 2, 0 and 9. "I never felt that re was anything drastically wrong with my technique in Australia. It was just one of those phases that every batsman goes through. "When you are in that phase it's challenging to get out but a great player will find his way out." He said runs for India A did his confidence a world of good.

"That's why going out and playing some practice games, India A games and getting some runs under my belt did well for my confidence and I could go back and focus on getting runs more than why I was getting out and trying to dissect my technique or batting", he said. Asked about choice of shot in second innings of opening Test, KL Rahul insisted that pdle-sweep was premeditated. "Sometimes, when you plan a sweep or a pdle-sweep, re is a certain percent of premeditation. I h played off-spinner for 5-6 overs and I knew lines he was bowling. "I was thinking about runs and since I hit him for a boundary before (wicket-taking) ball, I knew he would try to bowl a better length which would be easy for me to pdle. Unfortunately, I didn't execute shot really well. A lot of things seem right when y come off. If y don't, you can sit and dissect on a lot of things. Unfortunately, it's a battle he won."
India h extended ir overall le to 260 runs by reaching 185 for three at stumps, and he looked forward to Virat Kohli (51) and Ajinkya Rahane (53) continuing ir partnership on fourth day. "We kw y're really good batsmen and are really skilled. Once y're set, y will get a lot of runs and that's what y did. w at end of day, scoreboard looks good. Hopefully, tomorrow y come out and continue for a longer time," KL Rahul said. visitors bowled out West Indies for 222 in 74.2 overs in ir first innings in reply to ir 297 all out, with Ishant Sharma returning figures of 5 for 43. Besides Ishant, Mohammed Shami (2/48) and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jeja (2/64) scalped two wickets apiece.
