'It Would Be Nice To...': KL Rahul Names The Franchise He'd Love To Join Ahead Of IPL Mega Auction

After not being retained by Lucknow Super Giants, KL Rahul will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction. Ahead of the auction, he's named the franchise he wants to join

KL Rahul parted ways with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), after captaining the franchise for past three seasons and is all set to enter the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. KL Rahul is one of the biggest names in the IPL mega auction alongside Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer and is expected to attract a massive bidding war among franchises. 

With a lot of teams interested in snapping KL Rahul's services, the cricketer himself has named the IPL team he wants to join ahead of the mega auction scheduled for 24th and 25th November.

KL Rahul names the IPL franchise he wants to join

KL Rahul has captained the Punjab Kings for two seasons and was also the captain of Lucknow Super Giants for past three seasons. But he is now set to enter a new era in his IPL journey entering 2025. 

Ahead of the mega auction, KL Rahul has confirmed that he would love to back and play for his home franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In an unplugged interview with Star Sports, KL Rahul touched upon his future in the biggest T20 league in the world and admitted that he wants homecoming.

“Yeah, of course like I said, it's kind of home and the people there know me as a local Kannada boy, and it would be nice to go back there and get an opportunity again. But yeah, it's an auction year so you can go anywhere,” said KL Rahul when to Star Sports.

KL Rahul further said that out of all the franchises he loved playing the most for RCB out of all the franchises he's represented in the IPL. 

"I most enjoyed playing at RCB. It's also home, You get to spend a lot of time at home, and I know the Chinnaswamy [Stadium] really well. I've grown up playing on that ground. So yeah, I really enjoyed my time in RCB," said KL Rahul.

KL Rahul additionally said that he won't mind not being the captain of RCB he just wants a fresh start.

"It's not something that is a make or break for me. I just want to be part of a team that has a good environment. You feel loved, cared for and respected in that environment and everyone on that franchise has one single goal to win the idea. there then that's a perfect fit.

KL Rahul was one of the breakout players for RCB back in 2016 when the team reached the final of IPL only to lose to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). With KL Rahul back in the auction, and RCB potentially needing a captain, KL Rahul could very well be on his way back to RCB.
