KL Rahul's Dismissal Sparks Outrage: Experts Question Controversial OUT Amidst Unclear Evidence

India chooses to bat first, hence at lunch on Day 1 of the first Test between India and Australia it finds itself battling at 51 for 4. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, who each got two wickets, presented furious bowling that left the Indian batting line reeling. Early fellers were Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli , and KL Rahul ; Rahul alone made a noteworthy contribution with 26 runs. Looking to steady the innings as India negotiates a difficult scenario, Rishabh Pant (10*) and Dhruv Jurel (4*) continue at the bat as of 25 overs.

Cricket world questions KL Rahul’s controversial dismissal against Australia in the Perth Test 

KL Rahul survived the storm and played a wonderfully controlled innings despite wickets tumbling all around him during the first session of the game. However, that innings was cut short when KL Rahul was controversially declared dismissed by the umpire.

Mitchell Starc produced a scorching ball in the game's 23rd over, getting the edge of KL Rahul. However, the on-field umpire remained unconvinced and did not call out. Australia reviewed the call and handed KL Rahul a setback.  

However, during the replays, KL Rahul also clipped his pads, and there was no compelling evidence to establish that the spike on the extreme edge was produced by the ball striking the bat rather than the stumps. The third umpire did not evaluate all of the angles and, despite the lack of compelling evidence, overturned the on-field judgment.

KL Rahul was left in shock as the third umpire began to reverse the ruling. Furthermore, the cricket world was perplexed as to how the third umpire dismissed KL Rahul despite the lack of proof.
