BCCI likely to cancel mega auction for 2021 due to late start of IPL 2020
According to a recent report by Times of India, BCCI might end up shelving IPL 2021 mega auction which would lead to franchises retaining same set of cricketers y will be having for IPL 2020 season. IPL 2020 season is currently on schedule to conclude on vember 10, thus leaving BCCI just four-to-five months before launching IPL 2021. Additionally, Indian board intends to allot same playing window for IPL 2021 as y did for IPL 2020, i.e. more than 50 days for 60 matches.
Apparently, several IPL franchises including Kolkata Knight Riders earlier made an appeal for same. As per franchise officials, y believe that y will t be left with eugh time to rebuilt ir line-ups. One of sources was quoted by publication saying: “What's point in doing a mega auction w and t have eugh time to plan it properly?”. source added that IPL 2021 should go ahead as planned without mega auction, keeping in mind delay in launch of IPL 2020 season. One of co-owners of Kolkata Knight Riders echoed opinion and raised same topic at a recent meeting between franchise owners.

IPL 2020 dates and venue decided
As per anuncement made by BCCI and IPL Governing Council members on August 2, IPL 2020 dates is confirmed to be between September 19 and vember 10. Apart from IPL 2020 dates, Governing Council also confirmed that IPL 2020 will be taking place in United Arab Emirates (UAE). decision to shift tournament out of India was made due to rising threat posed by contagious coronavirus disease in country.
