While some superlative cricket is on display, but in between a controversy has also emanated. Ruturaj Gaikwad , who is in Australia, leading the India A against Australia A observed an unusual instance in the Ranji Trophy game between Maharashtra and Services on Thursday.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Calls Out The Falling Standards of Umpiring

Upon noting the dismissal, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad decided to bring the episode to the public's attention. He captured the clip of the dismissal, in which it was evident that the ball had bounced before being held, and amplified it through the social media platform Instagram.

In the story's caption, Gaikwad wrote, "How can this be given out in a live game? Shame to even appeal this for a catch. Absolutely pathetic."

Despite having a provision for a third umpire, the wrong call was made by the on-field official. The replays showcased that it wasn't a clean catch.

Jalaj Saxena Scripts History In Ranji Trophy

In other news, Jalaj Saxena, a Ranji Veteran, who has been around and firing in the circuit since 2005, achieved a huge milestone on Wednesday. The all-rounder has touched a unique realm of scoring 6000 runs and claiming 400 wickets simultaneously. He is the first all-rounder in the illustrious history of the Ranji Trophy to touch this feat. The 37-year-old took a fifer for Kerala on the day to breach the mark of 400 wickets.

Despite cementing a legacy in the domestic circuit, Jalaj Saxena is yet to face the music of international cricket. He has featured in the IPL though but has made an appearance in the playing XI only once. Representing Punjab Kings , Jalaj Saxena had his sole IPL match stint against Delhi Capitals in 2021. Nevertheless, he has been a part of Mumbai Indians , Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but has always stayed on the sidelines.
