Having carried a persona of captain cool for almost the entirety of his career, the rare revelation of MS Dhoni losing his calm and bursting out his tempers makes up for a development to raise eyebrows. The cricket world witnessed the sight of him giving Mitchell Johnson a gaze when the two ran into each other during an India vs Australia ODI back in 2010. Then there is a case of him politely shoving Mustafizur Rahman during an IND vs BAN ODI. Moreover, who could forget the in-famous instance when MS Dhoni barged onto the field and had an animated chat with the umpires during an IPL 2019 match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals . Adding to the list, former India bowler Harbhajan Singh brought another occasion when MS Dhoni cut out a frustrating figure.

As the stakes were high in the RCB vs CSK IPL 2024 match and a playoff spot was on the line, the loss would have left anybody in agony. As it happened, courtesy of Yash Dayal's last-over heroics RCB won the match and advanced to the last 4, pushing Chennai through the elimination door. The high-voltage affair had an impact on a usually calm and composed MS Dhoni as well, who could not refrain from venting out his anger on a screen. Harbhajan Singh, who carried out commentary duties in the match narrated the instance.
“RCB were celebrating and look, they were well within their rights to do that, the way they had won and qualified,” he said on Sports Yaari.

“I was watching from upstairs and saw that they were celebrating, (CSK) had formed up in a line to shake hands with them. It took them a little while and by the time RCB were done with their celebration (Dhoni) went back inside and he punched a screen that came before you reach the dressing room. It's ok; this happens in sports.”
“Even if they had celebrated for a few minutes, it's their right. He walked off, but fine, that's his thought process at the time. That day maybe he felt that his dream of winning this match and then winning the IPL and retiring with the trophy got shattered,” said Harbhajan.
