'It's A Showpiece': IND Coach Reiterates On The Challenges In Store For Youngsters in Australia

Indian Coach Gautam Gambhir and several senior players opened up on the challenges that Australia has in store for the Indian youngsters.

India are all set to face Australia in one of most anticipated cricketing series on calendar- Border-Gavaskar Series. five match test series will begin on 22nd of November with top two nations in WTC points table going at it in Perth. Indian Team are alrey in Australia and are practicing in full swing to take on mighty Australia and continue ir streak of winning BGT series. Indian camp has several youngsters in ir ranks who have travelled to Australia for first time.

According to Gautam Gambhir and several senior players, tour of Australia makes everyone a better cricketer and seniors and coach are now trying to instill se values in youngsters.

‘One Of Toughest Challenges’- Nayar 

A Test series against Australia is a transformative experience after which an individual "goes back a better cricketer" is what he coach Gautam Gambhir and some of star senior players have been trying to instil in younger members of team on ir first tour 'Down Under'. 

It will be a baptism of fire for several young Indian players, with visitors naming as many as eight squ members who have never played a Test match on Australian soil.

likes of Yashaswi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sarfaraz Khan, Nitish Reddy, Harshit Rana, Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna, all of m on ir maiden tours will have plenty to prove during marquee series, starting here from November 22.

And who better than troika of Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin , both on ir fifth Test tours (2011-12, 14-15, 18-19, 20-21) and Jasprit Bumrah , who is on his third red ball tour (2018-19, 20-21) to share ir invaluable learnings from past series.

"Gauti bhai (Gambhir) h a chat with boys just before we started, we h some of senior boys as well," Nayar said in video posted by bcci.tv. on Thursday.

"Booms (Bumrah), Virat , Ash (Ashwin) having a chat with guys how first y came here as youngsters with a lot of seniors around and how y sort of felt that once you finish an Australia series you go back a better cricketer." "I think young boys are very keen, raring to go and hopefully make a name for mselves by end of this tour.

"It's one of toughest challenges for an Indian cricketer coming here and overcoming it, Nayar ded.

Morne Morkel Weighs In On Importance Of BGT 

Bowling coach Morne Morkel described series as "a showpiece on international calendar" and predicted that both teams would go hard at each or in every session.

"I think it's a showpiece on international calendar since it's going to be teams that not going to give anybody an inch or a sniff and it is going to be hard-fought sessions," Morkel said "I'm hopeful for five Test matches is hard. Five days of cricket when you sit after day's play and you take your shoes off and say 'Listen, I have given it all'," he ded.

Since 2014-15, Australia have not been able to lay ir hands on Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with India winning four consecutive series including historic triumphs Down Under in 2018-19 and 2020-21.

India remain only Asian nation to beat Australia at ir backyard in a Test series.

"It's become a big part of Indian cricket to come here and do well. It's obviously a very proud moment that India won here twice in last two times as well as winning it in India," assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said.
